Exercise 4: Develop a New Media Presence for Podcasting

Steps to complete the assignment:

1.) Choose and setup a new media web presence to host and distribute your podcast show. As you learned by reading Farkas, there are a variety of fee-based and free options for establishing a podcasting site. Choose one the following options and setup a very basic podcasting site:

  • Choose blog, wiki, web-site or other podcast hosting service (free or fee-based). See Module 5 Web-Site Packagers. You are responsible for setting up and troubleshooting your own website tools. I will support a weblog option for those who don't have another option to complete this assignment. I will use an instance of WordPress I have admin access to called Blogs@Mason. Just email me to set you up an account for this and direct you how to get started.
  • On your New Media site, everyone should develop a minimal layout that includes the following information:
    • series and episode titles and number of your podcasts
    • a brief show description
    • and the link to podcast via RSS feed, a simple HTTP link , and/or embedded player.
2.) Upload your podcast files, or make a link to them, or install your RSS feed.
3.) Post the URL to your site in the Bb Discussions forum for Exercise 4 to share you space with the class.
